mSOL is a standard SPL token, so it can be deposited into lending protocols, liquidity pools, vaults, and other apps across Solana. Once it is there, that protocol controls it, not Marinade.
What Marinade Cannot Do
We have no control over third-party protocols. We cannot:
Withdraw your mSOL from another protocol on your behalf
Recover funds from a protocol that has shut down, paused withdrawals, or taken its site offline
Fix errors, failed claims, or stuck positions inside another app
Provide support for staking done through a different provider
We would rather tell you this plainly than leave you waiting for help that cannot come.
Why We Have No Say in This
mSOL is a permissionless token. Any project can integrate it without asking us, telling us, or having any relationship with us. In many cases we do not know a protocol has integrated mSOL until a user mentions it.
That openness is the point of building on Solana, and it is what lets mSOL be useful in so many places. The trade-off is real: when you deposit mSOL somewhere, you are entering an agreement with that protocol, not with Marinade. Its code holds your tokens, its team decides what happens next, and its risks are the ones that apply.
Issuing the token does not give us authority over where it goes or responsibility for what happens to it there.
What Marinade Can Do
Help you work out where your mSOL actually is, by looking at your wallet on-chain
Confirm whether mSOL itself is functioning normally
Help you unstake once the mSOL is back in your own wallet
Finding Your mSOL
If your mSOL is not in your wallet, it is somewhere else, and your on-chain history shows where it went.
A portfolio tracker is the quickest way to see it. Tools such as Jupiter Portfolio read your wallet address and show your positions across Solana protocols in one view, including tokens deposited into apps rather than sitting in your wallet.
Please note: Jupiter Portfolio is not built, run, or maintained by Marinade. We mention it only because it is a widely used tool in the Solana ecosystem. Any other reputable portfolio tracker works just as well, and using one is entirely your choice.
You can also read the history directly on a block explorer such as Solscan. Look for the transaction that moved the mSOL out of your wallet; the receiving program tells you which protocol holds it.
From there, the recovery path is that protocol's, not ours. Check whether it has a support channel, a community, or a fallback withdrawal interface still running.
Marinade's Own Legacy Liquidity Pool
One case is ours. If your mSOL is in the old Marinade mSOL/SOL liquidity pool at the legacy site, that is a Marinade product and we have a full guide for withdrawing from it.
Once Your mSOL Is Back
When the mSOL is in your own wallet again, it behaves normally. It kept earning staking rewards the entire time it sat in another protocol, because those rewards accrue in the mSOL to SOL exchange rate rather than as payments.
You can then hold it, or unstake it. See Unstake Your Marinade SOL Position.
FAQ
Q: I staked with a different provider and have a problem. Can you help?
A: No. If you staked somewhere other than Marinade, that provider holds your position and only they can help. We can only see and assist with Marinade positions.
Q: Does Marinade vet the protocols that integrate mSOL?
A: No. Integration is permissionless, so no approval or review happens on our side. Assess any protocol on its own merits before depositing.
Q: Did my mSOL still earn rewards while it was deposited elsewhere?
A: Yes. The value accrues in the exchange rate, so your mSOL became redeemable for more SOL regardless of where it was held.
Q: A protocol holding my mSOL has shut down. What are my options?
A: Contact that protocol's team or community directly. Some shut-down protocols leave a withdrawal-only interface running. Marinade cannot release funds held by another program.
Q: Is it safe to connect my wallet to a portfolio tracker?
A: A tracker only needs your wallet address, which is public, to show your positions. Nothing should ever ask for your seed phrase or a signature just to display a portfolio. Reach the tool by typing its address yourself rather than through a link someone sent you.
