How Marinade Calculates Displayed APY
Marinade's displayed APY is a 30-day simple moving average of the 14-day APY.
Each day, Marinade compares the current mSOL price to the price 14 days earlier, then averages those daily measurements over 30 days and projects the result over a year. This smooths out single-epoch noise so the headline number does not swing every 2 days.
The trade-off: because it is an average of the past 30 days, it reacts slowly. When network rewards fall, the displayed APY stays higher than the live rate for a while, and when rewards rise it lags below. A gap between a smoothed figure and a live figure is expected, not an error.
Which Number Should I Use?

A: Both. The app's headline APY is a 30-day average of 14-day measurements, so it lags the live rate in both directions. Over a full year of holding, what you actually earn tracks the live rate, not the smoothed display.
Q: Why is Marinade's APY higher or lower than plain Solana staking?

Q: Why did the APY fall?
A: Solana staking rewards come from inflation, MEV, and priority fees. All three vary with network activity. Quieter periods on the network mean lower priority fee and MEV revenue, which lowers staking APY across the whole network, not just on Marinade.
