What APY Does Marinade Pay?

Where to find the current APY for mSOL, Marinade Native, and Marinade Select, and why Marinade does not publish a fixed number.

Written by Johnny

Marinade does not pay a fixed APY. Your rewards come from Solana's on-chain staking rewards, which change every epoch (about every 2 days) based on network inflation, MEV, and priority fees.

Any APY figure written into a help article, blog post, or social post is a snapshot from the day it was written and will be out of date. Treat the live sources below as the only authoritative numbers.

Where to Find the Current Rate

Each product has its own rate, and within Marinade Native each reward token has its own rate too. They are shown in different places:

  • Marinade Native and Marinade Liquid (mSOL): shown in the Marinade app on the staking screen, next to each staking option as you choose one.

    • Recipe reward tokens on a Marinade Native position (USDG, USDC, cbBTC, and others): each token has its own rate. The current list with rates is on the Marinade Recipes product page, and the rate for your chosen token is shown when you select it while staking.

  • USDC Earn Vault: shown on the Earn page for the vault, and on the My position tab once you have deposited.

  • History and protocol metrics: stats.marinade.finance.

Support cannot quote a live rate in chat, because it changes every epoch and would be wrong by the time you read it.

FAQ

Q: Why does the APY change?
A: Solana distributes staking rewards each epoch. The size of those rewards moves with network inflation, MEV revenue, and priority fees, so the annualized rate moves with them. Marinade targets the Solana Staking Rate for stakers.

Q: Do all the reward tokens pay the same rate?
A: No. Each Recipe reward token has its own APY, because the reward is converted into that token before it reaches you. See Why Recipe Rewards Show a Different APY.

Q: Why do mSOL and Marinade Native show different APYs?
A: They stake to the same validator set, but the two figures are measured differently, so they are not directly comparable. mSOL APY is derived from how the mSOL/SOL exchange rate has moved over a recent rolling window, which is backward-looking and includes the pool's liquid reserve. Marinade Native APY is computed from the rewards actually landing in stake accounts, and counts stake that is mid-rebalance in the denominator, which pulls the figure down slightly on purpose. A gap between the two numbers is not a gap in what you earn. Marinade Select delegates to a smaller vetted validator set, so its rate can differ for that reason too. See Native or Liquid: Which Should I Choose?

Q: Is the APY shown net of fees?
A: Yes. The APY displayed in the app is already net of fees. Marinade does not charge a performance fee on staking rewards, so what you see is what your stake earns. The USDC Vault works differently: it charges a 5% performance fee on the interest your deposit earns, which is already reflected in the vault's displayed APY.

Q: Can Marinade guarantee a rate?
A: No. Staking rewards are set by the network, not by Marinade, and past rates do not predict future ones.

Q: Why is the APY I see elsewhere different?
A: Third-party sites, aggregators, and older Marinade posts calculate over different time windows or were written at a different time. Use the app for the current figure.

Q: Why do I see two different APY numbers in the app?
A: See Why Do I See Two Different APY Numbers?
