Already staking with a validator? You can migrate your existing stake account to Marinade, either by redelegating it to Marinade Native or by converting it into mSOL.
Which path is open to you depends on the validator you are staked with today. Marinade Native accepts a stake account from any validator, including one that is not in Marinade’s validator set, and redelegates it within 1 to 2 epochs. Marinade Liquid (mSOL) requires your stake to already be with a validator in Marinade’s validator set. If it is not, migrate to Marinade Native instead.
You can migrate any eligible staked SOL account directly to Marinade. At migration you choose what it becomes:
Marinade Native: Spread your stake across multiple validators using Marinade’s optimized delegation strategy, rather than locking it with just one. Works from any validator.
Marinade Liquid (mSOL): Convert your stake into mSOL, so the position becomes a token you can use in DeFi, without manually unstaking and restaking. Only available if your validator is already in Marinade’s validator set.
Marinade Recipes: Stake the same way as Native, with customized rewards paid in a token of your choice instead of SOL. See What Are Marinade Recipes?
Step 1: Visit the Marinade App
Navigate to https://app.marinade.finance to get started.
Step 2: Connect Your Staked Account Wallet
Click Connect Wallet in the top-right corner of the screen. Select the wallet that holds the staked position you want to migrate.
Step 3: Select the Staking Option and Stake Account to Migrate
Everything below starts from the Earn tab in the main navigation. Pick the product you want the stake to end up in, then follow the steps for it.
A. Migrate to Marinade Native
Open the Earn tab and choose Marinade Native, then select “Migrate Stake”.
If you have multiple stake accounts, use the dropdown menu to navigate between them.
Enter the amount of SOL you want to migrate.
Confirm the migration and approve the transaction in your wallet.
This path does not depend on who you are staked with today. Your stake is redelegated across Marinade’s validators within 1 to 2 epochs.
Marinade Recipes works the same way. Open the Earn tab, choose it instead, and use its migrate option.
B. Migrate to Marinade Liquid
This path only works if your stake is already with a validator in Marinade’s validator set. Marinade Liquid does not stake outside that set, so a stake account delegated elsewhere cannot be converted to mSOL. Migrate it to Marinade Native instead, which accepts it from any validator.
Open the Earn tab and click the Marinade Liquid banner below the Marinade Native card, or go directly to https://app.marinade.finance/earn/liquid/.
Click the dropdown to select the specific stake account you wish to migrate.
Enter the amount of SOL you want to migrate.
Confirm the migration and approve the transaction in your wallet.
Why You Might Not Be Able to Migrate
A stake account has to be active to be migrated. If yours is not offered, it is usually one of these:
It is not active yet.
A new stake account takes 1 to 2 epochs to activate. Try again once it is active. It is currently deactivating.
A stake account that is on its way out cannot be migrated. Either cancel the deactivation, or wait for it to finish and stake the SOL again. It has an active lockup.
A lockup that has not expired blocks the migration. Locked SOL can still be staked with Marinade Native as a fresh stake. See Can I Stake Locked or Vesting SOL?It is too small.
Marinade Native requires at least 1.0046 SOL, which covers Solana's rent and minimum delegation. You are migrating to Marinade Liquid and your validator is not in Marinade’s validator set.
Migrate to Marinade Native instead. It accepts your stake from any validator and redelegates it for you.
Step 4: Successfully Migrate Your Position
Congratulations! You have successfully migrated your stake account to Marinade.
If you migrated to Marinade Native, your position will now benefit from Marinade’s validator delegation strategy.
If you migrated to Liquid staking, you will receive mSOL in your wallet, ready for use in DeFi.
