If you see "Stake has failed; You rejected the transaction" while staking or unstaking SOL on Marinade, you almost certainly did not reject anything. Two setups produce this exact message:
A hardware wallet (usually Ledger) that was never prompted to confirm, because the connection between the wallet extension and the device was not properly established.
A multi-chain wallet that is not switched to Solana, so it declines the transaction on your behalf.
Work through the steps below before retrying.
1. Update your wallet extension and device firmware
This is the most common cause. An outdated version can handle simple transfers perfectly well and still fail on a staking transaction.
Browser wallet (Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, and others): update the extension to the latest version and restart your browser afterwards.
Ledger users: update the device firmware and the Solana app on the device. Check your current firmware version with this Ledger guide, find the latest version for your device here, or open Ledger Live, which will tell you if an update is waiting.
2. If you use a multi-chain wallet, switch it to Solana
Wallets that cover several blockchains (Coinbase Wallet, OKX Wallet, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, and others) will refuse a Solana transaction when the wallet is sitting on a different network. The refusal reaches Marinade as a rejection, which is why the error says you rejected it.
Open the wallet and switch the active network or account to Solana.
Confirm the address shown is your Solana address, not an Ethereum or Bitcoin one.
Disconnect from Marinade, reconnect, and retry.
3. Reconnect your hardware wallet and enable Blind Signing
After updating both your device and your wallet extension:
Re-establish the connection between your wallet and the device.
On your Ledger, open the Solana app.
Go to Settings and make sure Blind Signing is turned ON.
Blind signing is required for staking transactions to be processed at all.
Check it again after every firmware update. Updating firmware can silently reset Blind Signing back to off, so the setting you enabled last month may no longer be on.
4. Work out whether the problem is Marinade or your wallet
Try a small swap on a DEX such as Jupiter or Titan. A swap is a program interaction, just like staking, but has nothing to do with Marinade.
If the swap also fails: the problem is your wallet, device, firmware, or connection. Go back to step 1.
If the swap works but Marinade does not: that is useful information. Tell us what you tried.
Note that being able to send tokens does not prove your connection works. A plain transfer touches no on-chain program, so a wallet that cannot sign a staking transaction can still send SOL without complaint.
